Background and Context
The inaugural Ghana Space Conference (GSC), held in October 2025 at the Institute of Statistical, Social, and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana, marked a defining moment for Ghana's engagement with space science and technology. Bringing together policymakers, researchers, private sector actors, international stakeholders, and students, the maiden edition laid the groundwork for a coordinated national space agenda anchored in the Ghana National Space Policy (2024).
Building on that foundation, the second edition of the Ghana Space Conference (GSC 2026) takes a decisive step forward. Where the 2025 conference established awareness and charted a collective vision, GSC 2026 is about turning that vision into measurable action. The conference spotlights concrete projects, investments, and partnerships that directly address Ghana's most pressing development challenges through space-based innovation.
Three Distinguishing Priorities
Three key priorities distinguish GSC 2026 from its predecessor:

Moving beyond awareness to showcase deployable solutions, funded initiatives, and industry partnerships with real-world impact.
International
Broadening participation from African and global space agencies (UNOOSA, ESA, NASA, AfSA) to establish Ghana as a space innovation hub.
Youth & Women
Dedicated programming streams, competitions, mentorship, and funding opportunities for next-generation STEM innovators.
Conference Thematic Pillars
Theme 1: Space Applications for Development
Practical, deployable satellite applications for precision agriculture, food security, flood/drought monitoring, health analytics, smart urban growth, and coastal management.
Theme 2: Policy, Governance & Space Law
Implementation of the Ghana National Space Policy (2024), regulatory environments, spectrum management, space traffic management, and responsible use of outer space.
Theme 3: International Collaboration & Africa
African space agency cooperation, strategic technical agreements, joint programmes with global bodies, and alignment with AU Agenda 2063.
Theme 4: Inclusive Innovation & STEM
Empowering women in space STEM, youth entrepreneurship, academic-industry bridges, scholarships, and community-level space technology solutions.
