Background

The study focused on investigating the characteristics of drought on spatial-temporal scale over Ghana. Droughts characteristics like frequency, intensity, severity and trends are investigate on monthly seasonal and annual timescale. The analysis is done on spatial and temporal scale. Drought variability in Ghana is also investigated using Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) technique.

The goal of the study is to characterize drought over Ghana and understand their variability and trends. The study further seeks to ascertain the impact of remote global ocean-atmospheric teleconnection on drought variability on Ghana for developing an early warning drought system for disaster risk mitigation and management.
